Festivals

The annual Grand Bank Summer Festival takes place during the last week in July and the first week of August. Grand Bank Day is held on the first Saturday of August. Organized by the Grand Bank Special Events Committee, the festival has been continuously growing with the incorporation of new ideas each year.

  • •Traditional Newfoundland Food is served every day throughout the festival.

Community Open Air:
Each year, an Open-Air service is held where collected offerings are donated to the community food bank.

 

Garden Party and Afternoon Tea:
There is a variety of traditional Newfoundland music and food, games for the children and fun for all ages.

Waterfront Family Festival:
Included in the celebrations are the famous dory races with a range of prizes, great entertainment, lots of concessions and a spectacular fireworks display. This event is supported in part by the Grand Bank Development Corporation.

 

Seniors Appreciation Night:
This event is designed to give our elderly a good old-fashioned party. There’s singing, dancing, bingo and what would a Newfoundland party be without food... and lots of it.

To conclude the festival, we celebrate Grand Bank Day. Wake-up to a Newfoundland “Breakfast on the Wharf”…There are games of chance, concession booths and live entertainment. Finally, take a scuff on the dance floor later that evening during the outdoor adult dance (weather permitting).

 

Grand Bank Day includes:

• Breakfast on the Wharf (baked beans, sausages, bologna, scrambled eggs, etc.)
• Community BBQ on the Warf
• Community Fair - Downtown.
• Adult Dance with Live Entertainment featuring Different Guests each year. Previous guests included "The Stampeders " and "The Irish Decendents."
