Mission Statement:
To provide quality programs and services in the area of
recreation.
Grand Bank has a large number of
recreational facilities and programs available for men,
women and children of all ages. A summer sports program
is organized for children ages 3 years to 17 years.
Grand Bank employs a full-time recreational director who
plans, organizes, and coordinates year-round community,
recreational and sporting events. An eleven-member
recreation commission supports the director. Some
programs include hockey, softball, basketball, tennis,
soccer, darts, floor hockey, plus many more.

In addition,
the Fortune Arena is only 4 kilometers away where
senior, junior and recreational hockey is played on a
community level. Minor hockey thrives on all levels and
is supported by a well-organized Hockey Moms program.
Grande Meadows
Golf Course with excellent greens located at Frenchman's
Cove, just 30 kilometers from Grand Bank is a 9-hole
course and surrounded by a scenic water line. It has
challenging holes including 3 holes with ponds. Trees
line all fairways. Grande Meadows also has a driving
range attached.
Several salmon
fishing rivers near Grand Bank are Garnish River,
Piercey's Brook, Salmonier, and of courses, Grand Bank
Brook which runs through the community.
The Peninsula
offers a variety of hunting and fishing opportunities as
well as hiking, cross-country skiing, camping and
canoeing opportunities. The people of Grand Bank enjoy
active outdoor lifestyles. The town's rugged natural
surroundings are ideal. In summer many relax in summer
cabins located at L'anse au Loup, Famine and Mollier’s -
just a few minutes away from the town. Hiking, soccer,
softball, swimming, trout fishing and biking is popular
in summer; snowmobiling, cross country skiing, hunting
and ice fishing are winter recreations. Many residents
own their own small craft and enjoy boating in summer.
One of the most scenic parts of the community is the
Grand Bank Brook, which winds its way from the harbour
back into the country. It is a well-known licensed brook
for salmon, with a salmon ladder leading to the town's
water supply. A nature trail follows the bank of the
brook to the dam, making it a guaranteed pleasure for
both residents and tourists.

hunting and fishing regulations are available from the
Department of Wildlife Government of Newfoundland and
Labrador, P. O. Box 8730, St. John's, NF.
The annual Winter
Carnival in Grand Bank creates a weeklong entertainment
program for people of all ages during the last week in
February. Many families and sporting events are
scheduled throughout the week.
The summer festival
takes place the first week of August each year. Included
in the celebrations is a waterfront festival that
includes fireworks, dory races, music, and breakfast.
Groups and organizations in the town organize events,
which include traditional Newfoundland foods, games of
chance, teen and adult dances, garden party and
afternoon tea, appreciation night for seniors, kids day
of activities including face painting, teddy bear
picnic, swimming, concert etc. The festival concludes
with a community open-air service at which time
offerings are taken in aid of our community food bank.
